Perimeter Survey
The perimeter survey determines the natural slope of the field.
• If you know the desired percentage of slope for the field, a
perimeter survey is unnecessary. Simply set the desired slope
into the transmitter, perform a serpentine survey, then level the
field.
• If the slope of the field is unknown, and you want to “best-fit”
the existing slope, perform a perimeter survey to calculate the
actual field slope. Then, set the best-fit slope into the
transmitter, perform a serpentine survey, then level the field.
1. To calculate the percentage of slope, get an average elevation
reading at each side of the field (Figure 4-3).

2. Knowing the distance between the elevation readings, calculate
the percentage of slope.
3. Set the best-fit slope number into the transmitter to survey and
level the field (Figure 4-4).
