[ 2 ] Scanning from the original glass, RADF and DSDF
[ 2-1 ] Original glass
An original placed on the original glass is scanned by moving the carriage in the primary scanning
direction.
By using the RADF or DSDF, an original transported on the DF original glass is scanned while the
carriage continues to be under the DF original glass.

[ 2-2 ] RADF and DSDF
The RADF scans an original by transporting it to the DF original glass. After the front side of the original
has been scanned, it is reversed and transported to the DF original glass again to scan the back side.
The DSDF has an exclusive scanner embedded in it for scanning the back side. Due to this, the back
side of the original is scanned by that scanner and the front side is scanned by the DF original glass.
This means that both the front and back sides of the original are scanned at the same time in one
original feeding.
