4.4 Self-Diagnostic Mode
The mode for service technicians prepared for the MFPs is called the “Self-diagnostic mode”. The self-
diagnostic mode enables various setting changes and adjustments for the MFP. You can log into the
mode by entering a service ID and service password.
4.4.1 Functions
The self-diagnostic mode has multiple functions. For more details, refer to the Service Manual for each
model.
The following is an example of the functions.
• Setting and adjustment
• Operation check of electrical parts such as sensors and motors
• Test chart print for image checking
• Confirmation and clearing of counters
• Backing up and restoring data
• Creating and installing clone files
• Firmware updating
• Checking, recovering, initializing and data erasing of HDD
4.4.2 Accessing TopAccess
There are two types of menus for the self-diagnostic code. The contents and starting methods for each
menu are shown as below.
* For user authentication, log into the mode by entering a service ID and service password.
Remarks:
Depending on the models, the self-diagnostic mode can be started by turning the power ON with
the main power switch while pressing the digital keys. To perform the appropriate operations,
refer to the Service Manual for each model.
Menu Contents Accessing TopAccess
FS menu Performs various settings and adjustments. Press the main power switch or the [ON/
OFF] button while pushing the [FUNCTION
CLEAR] and [START] buttons
simultaneously.
Press [USER FUNCTIONS] on the Home
screen and push the gear icon on the upper
left of the screen for at least 3 seconds. *
HS menu Performs firmware updating as well as
checking, recovering, initializing and data
erasing of HDD.
Press the main power switch or the [ON/
OFF] button while pushing the [HOME] and
[START] buttons simultaneously.
