1. Overview
1.1 Preface
This manual describes the various basic technologies of the MFPs of Toshiba Tec Corporation. For
model specific technologies and information, refer to the Service Manual for each model.
1.2 About MFPs
An MFP stands for Multifunction Peripheral, which is a type of equipment having various functions,
such as copying, printing, scanning and fax. Digital signals are used not only for processing images
scanned by the scanner but also for writing them out. Therefore, the equipment is also called a digital
MFP.
Consequent to installing options, automatic scanning of originals and stapling printed sheets of paper
are made available.
Moreover, through connecting an MFP to a network, the network printing function, network scanning
function, internet fax function and e-mail transmission function become available. When several MFPs
are connected to the network, they can be linked and share printing data. As a result, those data can be
printed out from any of the linked MFPs.
