[ 2 ] Separation pad
The separation pad is pushed to the paper feed roller by the spring. When more than one sheet of
paper is transported, only the topmost paper (A) is transmitted in the direction of the black arrow by the
paper feed roller and the lower positioned paper (B) is not transported by means of the friction
resistance of the separation pad, since the friction resistance between the paper (A) and paper (B) is
smaller than that for the paper (A) and the separation pad.

2.4.3 Alignment mechanism
Tilting of the leading edge of the transported paper is arranged by aligning it to the stopped or reversed
registration roller. Then the registration roller starts rotating at the time of printing to transport the paper
to the transferring section.
