2.4 Paper Feeding and Transporting Section
2.4.1 Overview
The paper feeding and transporting section transports sheets of paper placed on the drawer and the
bypass tray one by one. This section consists of the rollers and guides for transporting the sheets of
paper. The sheets of paper transported from the drawer and the bypass tray are aligned by the
registration roller and then transported to the transferring section.

The functions of the major rollers in the paper feeding and transporting section are as below.

Pickup roller Picks up the paper on the drawer and the bypass tray.

Paper feed roller Feeds paper transmitted from the pickup roller.

Separation roller If multiple sheets of paper are picked up, separates sheets of
paper to transport them one by one,

Transport roller Transports the picked up paper.

Registration roller Aligns the position of the paper before images have been
transferred, if it has tilted.
