5.4 Addition of Functions
Functions can be added to the MFP by means of enablers (software license) and embedded
applications.
5.4.1 Enablers (software license)
By installing an enabler (software license) in the MFP, extension functions built in it become usable. The
model names for those enablers begin with “GS-” or “GB-”. The data are provided by a USB dongle or a
license file format.
5.4.2 Embedded applications
Embedded applications can extend the functions of the MFP. They can be installed in the MFP by using
TopAccess. Some applications require a license for using them. In such a case, enable the license by
means of the FS menu or TopAccess.
For example, e-BRIDGE Plus for Zone OCR requires a license but e-BRIDGE Plus for USB Storage
and e-BRIDGE Plus for Auto Launcher do not require one.
Applications installed can be checked on the Application screen on the [Administration] tab of
TopAccess.
If a service technician performs this on behalf of the users, be sure to obtain their approval and ask
them to confirm the license agreement before installing.
5.4.3 Licenses
It is necessary to enable the license when one is required to utilize extension functions built in the MFP
and embedded applications. Licenses are managed by means of a license server. They can be
disabled and returned. For more details, refer to the License Management MANUAL.
