2.4.2 Separation mechanism
In order to transport the sheets of paper one by one, the separation roller and the separation pad are
embedded in the drawer and the bypass tray, as a separation mechanism.
[ 1 ] Separation roller
The separation roller consists of the paper feed roller, separation roller and spring joint as shown in the
figure. The paper feed roller is turned in the direction of the white arrow at the same timing as the
pickup roller by the paper feed clutch.

When more than one sheet of paper is transported, only the paper (A) is transmitted in the direction of
the black arrow by the paper feed roller, since the friction resistance between the paper (A) and paper
(B) is smaller than that for the paper (B) and the separation roller.
