4.6 Precautions Regarding to the User Information and Password
4.6.1 User information
User information such as address book data, IP address and job logs, is the asset of the users. These
kinds of user information are included in the backup data and cloning file. Therefore, when handling
them, pay full attention not to lose or leak them.
4.6.2 Password
To perform the management and maintenance of the MFP, the entry of a password is required. There
are two types of a password: administrator password and service password. A specified password has
been set as the default at the time of factory shipment.
Remarks:
The password can be changed.
If you have forgotten the password, it is possible to reset it to return it to the default one. For more details,
refer to the MFP Management Guide or the Service Manual for each model.
[ 1 ] Administrator password
This is a password for a user to manage the MFP. This is required when the Admin menu is used. If a
user has forgotten the password, this specified one will be able to be used by returning the MFP’s
settings to the default ones. Depending on the models (destinations), it is prohibited to use an MFP with
the default password.
[ 2 ] Service password
This is a password for a service technician to carry out the service maintenance. This is required when
logging into the self-diagnostic mode.
Remarks:
Pay attention to the following items when you carry out the maintenance of the MFP with user
authentication enabled.
Menus which can be operated after you have logged into the MFP by using a service ID and service
password are limited. Therefore, if necessary, ask your user to give you the privilege to carry out the
operation with an administrator privilege.
Only when you have logged into the MFP by using a service ID and service password, you can enter
into the FS menu by means of the gear icon on the USER FUNCTIONS screen.
