[ 2 ] 1st transfer
This is a process to transfer visible images formed by the toner on the photoconductive drum onto the
transfer belt. A positive bias is applied to the 1st transfer roller, causing the transfer belt to be positively
charged. In the copy process of color models, images are transferred in the order of Y > M > C > K onto
the transfer belt.

[ 3 ] 2nd transfer
The toner on the transfer belt is transferred onto the paper by means of an electric field which is formed
between the 2nd transfer roller and the 2nd transfer facing roller.

Remarks:
For color printing, 4 colors of the toners (Y), (M), (C) and (K) are used. Therefore, all the
photoconductive drums (Y), (M), (C) and (K) contact the transfer belt. On the other hand, for
printing using only the toner (K), only the photoconductive drum (K) contacts the transfer belt.
Due to this, there is a mechanism to make the transfer belt contact and be released from the
photoconductive drum. Furthermore, in order to make images of Y, M, C and K overlay properly,
color registration is automatically carried out.
