9. Conduct a smoke spot test. Follow the smoke spot tester manufacturer’s
instructions and the general guidelines below.
Use the access hole in the exhaust outlet.
Take several samples as the heater warms.
Take the final sample just before the heater reaches 71°C (160°F).
10.Analyze the combustion. Follow the combustion analyzer manufacturers
instructions and the general guidelines below.
Use the access hole in the exhaust outlet.
Take several samples as the heater warms.
Take the final sample just before the heater reaches 71°C (160°F).
11.Re-adjust the air setting(s) if necessary until the smoke spot test and
combustion analysis are within the following parameters:

2
content: 4–6%
Smoke spot: 1 or less
Result
The burner has now been set up.
