9. Conduct a smoke spot test. Follow the smoke spot tester manufacturer’s
instructions and the general guidelines below.
 Use the access hole in the exhaust outlet.
 Take several samples as the heater warms.
 Take the final sample just before the heater reaches 71°C (160°F).
10.Analyze the combustion. Follow the combustion analyzer manufacturer’s
instructions and the general guidelines below.
 Use the access hole in the exhaust outlet.
 Take several samples as the heater warms.
 Take the final sample just before the heater reaches 71°C (160°F).
11.Re-adjust the air setting(s) if necessary until the smoke spot test and
combustion analysis are within the following parameters:
 O
2
content: 4–6%
 Smoke spot: 1 or less
Result The burner has now been set up.
