IMPORTANT:Theharvesterheadmustbeoperatedina
mannerthatpreventsdebrisfromhittingthecab.
Tosupportthisoperation,itmaybenecessary
toreplacethefrontwindowwiththeonecapable
ofwithstandingimpactsfromdebris.This
willhelpavoidseriousinjurytotheoperator
andmachinedamage.Onlyqualied,trained
personnelshouldoperatethisharvesterhead.
TheHTH623Charvesterheadhasarotationfeature;it
canberotatedsoastodirectdebrisandforeignobjects
awayfromtheoperator'scab.
Duetoitsrotationcapability,itisextremelyimportantto
ensureallpersonnelfollowallsafetyprecautionswhen
operating,inspecting,maintaining,andservicingthis
harvesterhead.
IMPORTANT:Theharvesterheadcanfall
unpredictablywhentheengineisshut
down.Intheeventofbeingunabletorestart
theengine,lowertheharvesterheadtothe
groundandreleasethetreesfromthedelimb
armsbeforeexitingthecab.DONOTexitthe
cabandapproachtheharvesterheaduntil
theheadisloweredtogroundandtrapped
hydraulicpressurehasbeenreleased.
Iftheengineshutsdownwithouttheharvesterheadinthe
parkingposition,restarttheengineandpositionthehead
onthegroundinastabilizedposition.Alwaysparkthe
carriersotheharvesterheadisonlevelgroundBEFORE
turningtheengineoffandexitingtheoperator'scab.
Whenstartinganoperationinanewlocation,determine
aworkzone.
Chooseanagreedworkingprocedureamongtheteam
workingwiththeharvesterheadanddonotchangeit
withoutfurtherdiscussion.
Beforeeachperiodofoperation,testtoensureallsafety
equipment,instruments,andcontrolsisworkingcorrectly.
Duringoperation,keepallwindowsanddoorsclosed.
Safelystoptheharvesterheadimmediatelywhen
someoneentersthesafetyzone.
Ensurenoonestandsinthecuttingdirectionofthe
sawchain;thechainshothazardzoneisapproximately
15-degreestowardstherearofthesprocketandinfrontof
thebartip.Keepallpersonnel90meters(300feet)away
fromtheharvesterheadduringtreefelling.
Ensuretheworkzoneisclearbeforefellingatreeor
processingastem.
Checkwithlocalauthoritiesregardinglocalsafety
regulations.Anticipateasafetyzoneofatleast5metres
(16feet)betweenpowerlinesandthenearestpointof
contactoftheharvesterhead.
Whenworkinginarestrictedarea,checkforinterference
withcylinderrods,hydraulichoses,andelectricalcables,
etc.
Alwayslowertheharvesterheadanditsloadtotheground;
leavingaloadsuspendedcouldresultininjuryordeath.
Passingaloadoveranothervehicle,evenifitappears
empty,couldcauseinjurytosomeoneoutoftheoperator's
lineofsight.
Alwaysallowenoughdistancebetweenthestemandthe
harvestercab.
When(re)movingalogfromoronastack,avoidmaking
anysuddenmoves.Suchmovesmaydamagethe
harvesterheadandcanbecostlyintermsofpartsand
downtime.Itmayalsobeapotentialsourceofinjury.
Whenworkingatnight,ensuretheworkareahas
adequatelighting.Usearecognisedsafetylightwitha
wirecage-protectedbulb.
Inspecttheharvesterheaddailyforsignsofdamage,
unusualwear,fatiguecracks,orfaultyoperation.
Inspectthesawchainandsawbarconditionforexcessive
wearordamagedailyand,also,immediatelyafterhitting
arockorotherforeignmaterial.
DisposeofWasteProperly
Improperwastedisposalcanthreatentheenvironment.
Fuel,oils,coolants,ltersandbatteriesusedwiththis
machinemaybeharmfulifnotdisposedofproperly.
Neverpourwasteontotheground,downadrain,orinto
anywatersource.

localenvironmentalorrecyclingcenter,oryourdealer,
formoreinformation.
