General
1.Smallertreesrequiringonlyasinglecutmayneedthe
harvesterheadunlatchingtobeover-ridden,withthe
tilt-upbuttonpushedwhilecutting.Thisisbecausethe
treeisforcedfasterthanthesawchaincancut.Once
thetreeiscut,theharvesterheaddownbuttoncanbe
activatedtofellthetree.
2.Treeswithaheavyforwardleancanbefelledeitherby
uprooting,orbyplacingmultiplefrontcuts,tocreatea
largerareatocompresswhilebackcutting.
3.Largertreesshouldbereleasedoncethetreeisfalling.
Thiswillreducetheoccurrenceofanyharvesterhead
damage.
4.Topsofhillsandunevengroundcanalsocausetrees
toswingup,damagetheharvesterheadorcausing
thecarriertolift.
5.Releasingtreesastheyarefallingintoanother
standingtreecansometimesallowthetreetorolloff.
6.Ifthefallentreeishunginanother,becarefulwhen
pullingitdown.Watchtoensuretheholdingtreeisnot
beingpulledinthesamedirection.Ifso,pushingthe
treecanuprootthetreeawayfromthecarrier.
UsingtheMainsawUnit
Priortousingthesawunitkeepinmindthefollowing:
1.Ifpossible,viewthesawbar.
2.Theharvesterheadwillfalloverwhenthesawchain
isactivated.
3.Protectboomhydraulicsandthecab.
4.Treepositioningfordelimbing.
5.Whilecutting,pushintherequiredfellingdirection,
rememberingtoavoidupwardpressure.
6.Asthecuttingunitcompletesthecut,thesawchain
willincreaseinspeed,andbarkchipsmaybevisible.
7.Oncethecutiscompleted,stopactivatingthesaw
chainbutton;thesawbarwillautomaticallyreturn.
8.Whenfelling,itispossibletojamthesawbar.Stopthe
activationofthesawchainandslowlylifttheharvester
head.Theweightofthetreehaspressurizedtheoilin
theliftramsofthecarrier;theliftingdistanceshould
notbegreat.
9.Checkthesawbarhasreturnedbythesawhome
sensorbeforemovingthetreetoofar.
10.Ensurethelogisclampedbeforethesawchainis
activated.Alooselogmaymoveafterthesawchain
beginsthecut,thismayderailthesawchainorstop
thesawchainfromcutting.
11.Asidetearalongthetreemaystopthesawbarfrom
returningifitisnotcutonthedownwardpass.The
sawchaincutshouldbemadepastthistear.
12.Logsshouldbesupportedwhencutting,asthiswill
avoidlogsplit.
13.Asmallamountofupwardliftmayberequiredasthe
sawchaincompletesthecut.Thiswillkeepthecut
openandreducethelikelihoodofthesawstalling.
14.Ensuretheendofthesawbardoesnotcutintothe
groundwhencompletingacut.Thesawchainmay
alsocutintoanotherlog,damagingthevalueofthat
log,or,iftheharvesterheadismoving,damagethe
sawbarandchain.
15.Whenthesawchainisjammedoutorthediameter
detectisactivated,thefeedmotorsareisolated.Ifthe
stemneedstobemovedinthisposition,youcando
sobypressingtheoptionbuttonandthenthefeed
rollerswitch.Careshouldbetakenwhenjammingthe
sawbarasitiseasytodamage.
UsingtheTopsawUnit
1.Thetopsawisdesignedforcuttingsmalldiameter
topsofftrees.Thetipofthesawbarcanbepinched
iflargerdiametersareattempted.
2.Thetopsawchaincanbederailedifbranchesorthe
endofthelogisloaded.Itisadvisedthetopsawbar
remainsvisiblewhencutting.
