General

1.Oncethetreehasbeendelimbed,itisreadytobe
cross-cutintodesiredproducts.
2.Dependingonlogsizewhencross-cutting,itwillbe
necessarytosupportthelargeend.
3.Ifmultipleloggradesarebeingprocessed,
pre-planningisimportant,asthiswillensurecorrect
placementofvariousgradesinordertofacilitatethe
recoveryprocess.
4.Whenworkingonconnedlandings,ensuresafety
proceduresandpracticesareinplaceandadheredto.
Debarking
1.Theprocessissimilartothatabove,withthemajor
differencebeingthepredominantuseofdebarking
feedingwheelstocutandloosenthebarkfromstems.
2.Thetreeisfedbackandforththroughtheharvester
headuntilthebarkisremoved.Thetreeisthen
processed.
Measuring
1.Inspectthebuttofthetreeandre-cutasrequired.
2.Lookatthemeasuringwheelwhileprocessing.Ifyou
seethemeasuringwheelslippingwhileprocessing,
restartthetreefromthebeginning,resettingmeasuring
atthebutt.
3.Keepthemeasuringwheelinviewwhenselectinga
loglength.Anysuddenmovementsoftheharvester
headmaycausethewheeltostoporspin.
4.Asupportlogmayberequiredforlongerlogsto
preventbreakage:thelogbeingmeasuredshould
slidesmoothlyalongthelogunderneath.Ifnot,try
anotherstackoflogs.
5.Avoidreversingwhenmeasuring.Returningtotheend
ofalogandstartingagainwillprovidemoreaccurate
lengthmeasuring.
6.Beforeactivatingthesaw,checkthediameterand
lengthreadouts.
7.Ifmeasuringequipmentisbeingused,carryout
calibrationchecksatregularintervals.
8.Whenhandlingtwostems,aligntheirbuttseitherby
asawcutorusingthendendbeforemeasuringto
length.
