PROCEDURE
1 Prepare the fuel pump before removal.
1.1 Make sure that the fuel return valve is open.
1.2 Close the fuel inlet valve.
1.3 Make sure that the pressure in the supply unit decreases to zero.
1.4 Set to OFF the power supply to the fuel pump actuators.
1.5 Make sure that there is no pressure in the fuel system.
1.6 Make sure that the temperature of the fuel has decreased to ambient.
1.7 Clean the work area and make sure that there are no dust particles.
1.8 Make sure that the valves to the fuel pumps are closed.
1.9 Remove the applicable HP fuel pipe(s), refer to 13.3.2 HP fuel pipe (fuel rail to
injection valve) - remove and 13.3.6 HP fuel pipe (fuel pump to fuel rail) -
remove.

2 Remove the connecting element (003, Figure 10-7) between the regulating rack (004)
and the actuator (002).
WARNING
Injury Hazard: Before you operate the turning gear, make sure that no personnel are near
the flywheel or in the engine.
3 Operate the turning gear until the cam base touches the roller (007).
4 Remove the four screws (001).
