3.6 Setting the Configuration Chapter 3: Configuration

Miscellaneous Functions
The Miscellaneous section contains two parameters – ControllerAction, and
ESPStepBehavior.
If the controller action is known you can set it using the parameter
ControllerAction parameter. Otherwise the Autotuner will determine and set the
correct value.
If ESPStepBehavior = P-AndD-Contr and an External Set Point (ESP) is used, and
it changes rapidly, the Proportional (P) and Derivative (D) parts of the PID
calculation algorithm are added to the Integral (I) part to form the Control Block
output signal, DeltaU.
However, if ESPStepBehavior = NoP-AndNoD-Contr the Proportional (P) and
Derivative (D) parts are not used when calculating DeltaU.
When an Internal Set Point is used (i.e. ESPMode is False), ESPStepBehavior is
always NoP-AndNoD-Contr and the actual setting of ESPStepBehavior is
ignored.
The Control Loop Performance Monitor (CLPM) monitors the control loop for
abnormal oscillations and signals an alarm when any occur. The function is
completely automatic and requires no user action or parameters to be set after the
function is activated.
Note: CLPM is only available in the ECA600 controller.
When the block detects an oscillation outside the limits of its detection algorithm
a message is indicated on the display. See Appendix B Error, Warning and
Information Messages. The most common cause of abnormal oscillations is high
valve friction caused by wear and insufficient maintenance.
