3.6 Setting the Configuration Chapter 3: Configuration
62 493-0736-11 (6-2)
Any digital input of any block type can be connected to any digital output of
any block type.
Overview
The controllers each have six main configurable sections, called columns:
The Input column contains blocks that accept signals from direct wiring, or
from the communication channels, or from values input by the user on the front
panel. These inputs may be analog or digital.
The Input Functions column contains blocks that mainly manipulate the input
signals from the Input Blocks. There are three types – Arithmetic Function
Blocks (FA), Logic Function Blocks (FL) and Other Function Blocks (FO).
The Other Function Blocks have inputs and outputs that are both analog and
digital.
The Set Point column contains Set Points.
The Alarm column contains Absolute alarms and Deviation alarms.
The Control column contains Control and Output Configuration blocks which
carry out control and related functions.
The Output column contains Output blocks that pass the analog or digital
control signals either to the communications channels or to directly wired
outputs.
The Operator Block processes all user interaction and scales the Process Value
into engineering units.
The System column contains communication configurations, status and
language.
