Input Function Blocks
There are three kinds of input function blocks:
• Arithmetic Function Blocks (FA) which perform arithmetic operations on
analog input signals and produce analog outputs.
• Logical Function Blocks (FL) which perform logic operations on digital input
signals and produce digital outputs.
• Other Function Blocks (FO) which perform operations on a mix of analog and
digital inputs and produce a mix of analog and digital outputs.
Arithmetic Function Blocks
The input to any block may be connected to the output of any other block
provided that they are of the same type, i.e. analog to analog or digital to digital.
Each output may be connected to several inputs if required. The Arithmetic
Function Blocks (FA) can be interconnected to allow more complex functions to
be constructed from basic operators. The available arithmetic function blocks are
summarised in Table 16.
Table 16 Arithmetic Function Blocks.
To configure an Arithmetic Function Block for use:
1 First select the block number to be used.
2 Select the required type.
3 Connect the required inputs to their respective outputs and define any
parameters required for the operation of the arithmetic function, or use
default values.
