Appendix A: Application Examples A.1 Level Control with Feed Forward and Gain Scheduling

Figure 1 Example of Level Control with Feed Forward and Gain Scheduling.
To solve this problem an ECA60 or an ECA600 controller may be used.
The Set Point is to be set at the front panel of the controller.
Preset Configurations
Is there a preset configuration available that solves this application? Look in the
Preset Configuration booklet.
The default Configuration for any of the controllers almost provides the solution
– one input for the Process Value and one output for the Control Output. A second
input can easily be configured.
Identify the terminals used for the different signals in the Default Configuration
– using the same terminals saves work and time.
Selection of I/O
The transmitters provide 4–20 mA outputs. For this example we will assume that
the flow transmitter is calibrated for a flow range of 0–9 m
3
/min. They are
powered with 24 V DC from the controller unit.
Three I/O terminals are required:
• One analogue input from the level transmitter (Process Value).
