Alarms
The Alarm blocks holds alarm limits and generates alarm signals when these
limits are transgressed.
Note: The ECA600 is configurable as PID1/Master or as PID2/Slave. The
functions described here are duplicated for PID1 and PID2.
Absolute Alarm Block
This block handles Absolute Alarms (AA). The outputs of this block are activated
when the input Signal reaches predefined limits. Four parameters define the alarm
limits – LoLimit, HiLimit, LoLoLimit and HiHiLimit.
For each alarm limit there is a digital output which indicates if that limit has been
reached – LoAlarm, HiAlarm, LoLoAlarm and HiHiAlarm. There is also one
output which is active if any alarm is active – Alarm.
When Signal is between LoLimit and HiLimit, no outputs are active. If Signal
decreases and reaches LoLimit the corresponding LoAlarm output is activated. If
signal decreases further and reaches LoLoLimit then the LoLoAlarm output is also
activated. If Signal increases and reaches HiLimit the corresponding HiAlarm
output is activated. If signal increases further and reaches HiHiLimit then the
HiHiAlarm output is also activated. The alarm outputs may be summarized:
HiHiAlarm = Signal > HiHiLimit
HiAlarm = Signal > HiLimit
LoAlarm = Signal < LoLimit
LoLoAlarm = Signal < LoLoLimit
Alarm = HiHiAlarm OR HiAlarm OR LoAlarm OR LoLoAlarm
