ECA Operator Block
The Operator Block (OP) handles the presentation of all information on the
controller front panel. The displayed process value can be scaled using the
function “ProcessValue” and a selected signal value can be shown on the display
using the function “AltDisplay”. Finally, the bar graph display can be changed
using the function “bar graphs”.
Process Value
A transmitter generates either a 0–20 mA/0–5 VDC/0–10 VDC signal, or a
4–20 mA/1–5 VDC/2–10 VDC signal. This signal represents a flow, temperature,
level or any other physical unit of measurement. To present the signal in
Engineering Units (flow, temperature, etc.), a conversion must be made.
By setting the parameters MinValue and MaxValue to suitable values, the
conversion is made automatically.
The user must first enter the number of decimals in the Engineering Unit
presentation and then the minimum and maximum values. Five significant digits
are available.
For example:
• Setting the NumberOfDecimals parameter to two (2) makes MinValue and
MaxValue range from –999.99 to 999.99.
• Setting the NumberOfDecimals parameter to four (4) makes MinValue and
MaxValue range from –9.9999 to 9.9999.
Note: If the value to be displayed exceeds five digits at any time, the rightmost
digit is dropped.
