Advanced Automated Osmometer Users Guide
A. Setting Up For Typical Operation
First, uncheck the LIS Enabled checkbox. You will normally
want the Connect As A Server and Communicate As A Server
checkboxes to be unchecked. Find out the IP address and port
number of your LIS server from your IT department and use the
Change IP Address and Change Port # buttons to enter those
values. Then check the LIS ENABLED checkbox.
Leave the Connect As A Server, Communicate As A Server,
Don’t Send <CR> Before <ETX>, and Don’t Send <EOT>
options unchecked.
When the A
2
O is configured in this manner, it will attempt to
connect to a server at the specified IP address and port number.
B. Atypical Settings
Making the A
2
O Connect and/or Communicate As A Server
Please see sections Connecting as a Server and Communicating
as a server in “The A
2
O Advanced Automated Osmometer
Laboratory Information System (LIS) Interface Specification”
(Document 200443PM) for information about the Connect As
A Server and Communicate As A Server checkboxes.
If the Connect As A Server checkbox is checked, then the A
2
O
doesn’t use the IP Address setting in the LIS Setup screen.
When the A
2
O is configured in this manner, it will provide a
socket that accepts connections at the IP address specified in the
LAN Setup screen, and the port number specified in the LIS
Setup screen. In this case, the software that wishes to connect
to the A
2
O LIS must be configured to request a connection from
the IP address that was specified in the LAN setup screen, and
the port number specified in the LIS Setup screen.
