The OsmoPRO
®
Micro-Osmometer Service Manual
All troubleshooting must be per-
formed by qualified service techni-
cians who have basic electrical trou-
bleshooting skills and the proper
equipment (i.e., voltage meter). This
manual does not imply a license to
troubleshoot or perform repairs with-
out proper qualifications.
STATIC ELECTRICITY CAU-
TION:
Some of the procedures outlined in
this section require that the circuit
boards in the OsmoPRO be inspected
or handled. Before touching any
component on the circuit boards, the
service technician must be discharged
of static electricity to avoid seriously
damaging the circuit boards.
Touching the OsmoPRO chassis
immediately before work is begun, or
wearing an electrically grounded
wrist strap, will effectively discharge
the service technician of static elec-
tricity.
DANGER - ELECTRICAL
SHOCK HAZARD: Certain compo-
nents within the OsmoPRO’s interior
contain sufficient electrical current to
cause serious injury or death, even
when the power switch is turned off.
Therefore, extreme care should be
taken when any of the protective
enclosure panels are opened or
removed.
CAUTION: Some troubleshooting
may require the instrument to be
turned on while the cover is removed.
Use extreme caution when operating
the instrument without the cover.
Hazardous voltages are present at the
AC input and power supply. Only a
qualified service technician should
perform these procedures.
Introduction
53
The troubleshooting chart in this section lists
problems that may occur while operating the
instrument. The left column describes the
symptom, the middle column lists checks to
determine what is causing the problem, and
the right column suggests an action to resolve
the problem. Follow the checks in the order
they are listed. If you perform checks out of
order, you risk replacing the wrong part.
If, after performing all checks, there is still a
problem, call the Advanced Instruments
Technical Services Department. See Service
Assistance (Section 1 - Introduction) for the
appropriate phone number to call.
