ASE2000 V2 Communication Test Set User Manual 26
5. File Types
The ASE2000 Communication Test Set V2 interacts with several di󰀨erent le types referenced
in their respective topics:
MONX les contain Exchange Mode conguration information including the protocol, window
layout, and user and data entry values. The default le extension for an ASE2000 Version 2
conguration le is MONX. MONX les are not compatible with ASE2000 Version 1 conguration
les, whose extension is MON. MONX les are applicable to Exchange Mode operation only
and can neither be saved nor opened while running in Task Mode.
MON les contain Exchange Mode conguration information similar to .MONX les, but were
generated with ASE2000 V1. Once opened in ASE2000 V2, it is recommended to save the
conguration in a .MONX le. Changes made to the conguration cannot be saved to a .MON
le format.
MSGX les contain Communication Message data as shown in the Line Monitor and Messages
view. A saved MSGX le can be sent to another ASE2000 user for viewing.
CSV les are ‘Comma-Separated Value’ columnar data stored in a readable text format. CSV
les are supported by Microsoft Excel for convenient handling. Although the comma “,” character
is most frequently used as the column delimiter, other displayable punctuation characters (non-
alphanumeric) are supported. During a Point List import operation, the delimiting character will
be determined by examining the le contents.
PCAP/PCAPNG les are capture les produced by the Wireshark network utility. Beginning with
Build 2.17, these les may be directly imported into the ASE2000 V2 Test Set.
TXT les are text les containing communication message data. Beginning with Build 2.18,
communication data represent as text may be imported into the ASE2000 V2 Test Set if compliant
with representation guidelines.
