25 APPENDIX A RJ45 Cable Assembly Procedure
This section shows the proper way of how a cable, the UTP Category 5 cable, is terminated.
25.1 The Cable and RJ45 plug
The drawings below show the RJ45 plug, cable type and the recommended jacket insulation
to strip off.
25.1.1 Cutting and Stripping the Cable
Trim and strip the jacket insulation using appropriate commercially available tools such as cut-
ter.

DO NOT cut or remove insulation from individual conductors. This may result in shorted or
open terminations within the finished modular plug cable assembly.
