10.1 Special Guidelines for UL Compliant Installation
For UL-compliant installations, follow the special guidelines described below.
The modem must be installed in the same room as the controller.
The cable length between the modem and the RS-232 port on the Access Easy Controller must
not exceed 5m in length.
UL examination of the dial-up feature is limited. The examination confirms continued control-
ler operation, including access control decision marking, under fault conditions on the wiring
between the controller's serial port and the external modem.
10.2 Installing the Modem
1. Connect the modem to the Access Easy Controller's serial port using the cable provided
with the modem. If this is a UL-compliant installation, be sure to adhere to the guidelines
in the previous section.
2. The following diagrams indicate the location of the controller's serial port that is con-
nected to the modem.

AEC only support US Robotics Dial-Up Modems. For other brands of modem, please refer to
Dial-up protocol in section 10.2.1 to check modem compatibilty.
