Factors affecting routability of GPX files
X Detail accuracy of Open Street Maps (OSM) maps
(the trails and side streets in remote regions may
not be recorded)
X Routing of waypoints: non-routable (not navigable)
if route lies external to streets and paths or routed
on expressways, motorways, highways
Quality of the GPX tracks
Case 1: GPX file is "completely routable"
X Navigation as usual
X If the rider is near the starting point of the route,
then navigation can immediately start.
X However, if the rider is far from the starting point of
the route, he can be navigated to this point.
Case 2: GPX file is "partially routable"
X After import of the GPX file onto Nyon, select this
via "Use modified version": The route will be con-
verted into a completely routable track and saved.
X In this process, non-routable (not navigable) way-
points will be repositioned to run on the nearest
parallel path.
Case 3: GPX file is "non-routable"
X GPX file is statically displayed and can not be trav-
elled by the rider.
X No display of turn instructions, remaining distance
information or estimated time of arrival
GPX tracks can not be navigated in the opposite
direction of the route. Use appropriate freeware
programs to convert the route.
