9 Appendix 4. Granu Tool Manual
9.1 Print Head Overview
The printing with Granu Tool White and Granu Tool Black print heads (Figure 7Error! Reference source n
ot found.) is based on the hot extrusion of small granules of thermoplastic material or mixtures of a
thermoplastic binder with powder fillers. The material is melted inside an extrusion barrel (having a
single heating zone with a length of ~6 cm) and pushed towards the nozzle by a rotating screw. The
extrusion barrel can be heated up to +250 °C. The Granu Tool White is optimized for the printing of
plastics, and the Granu Tool Black is for printing metal powder together with a binder material. Granu
Tools are compatible with various commercial and noncommercial granulates; however, if the
printed material breaks the tool, it is not covered by the warranty.
