CHAPTER 4 IMAGE FORMATION SYSTEM
C. Total Processing
The total processing block performs the following:
Enlargement/reduction
Shift
Negative/positive reversal
Image composition enlargement/reduction
Edge emphasis
Sharpness
Unlike the existing models, the machine uses different methods for enlargement/reduction and
image composition.
1. Enlargement/Reduction
For the vertical ratio (sub scanning direction), the scanner is moved at different speeds, thereby
changing the scanning width per pixel in relation to an original.
In the case of a ratio lower than 50%, data units are skipped when writing them into memory for
sub scanning direction.
