Procedure 7-4 (continued)
Testing STM-1/4/16/64/OC-3/12/48/192 protection switching with traffic on 12xE3DS3 WP service
interface
Step Action
13 Generate a loss of signal condition (LOS) on the working path by
disconnecting the fiber.
Traffic switches from the working to the protection path within 60 ms.
14 Put the fiber back on the working path.
15 During WTR time, generate a loss of signal condition (LOS) on the protection
path by disconnecting the fiber.
Traffic switches back to the working path within 60 ms.
Go to step 19.
16 Generate a loss of signal condition (LOS) on the protection path by
disconnecting the fiber.
Traffic must switch from the protection to the working path.
17 Put the fiber back on the protection path.
18 Record data in Table 12-11 on page 12-10/ Table 12-12 on page 12-11/ Ta ble
12-13 on page 12-12/ Table 12-14 on page 12-13 based on the STM/OC
value.
Testing 1:1 tributary protection switching on 12xE3DS3WP
19 Make sure the cross connects and 1:1 circuit pack protection group are
provisioned. If the 2nd slot is the IO slot, then provision 109 as the work slot
and 108 as the protection slot. If the 4th slot is the IO slot, provision 111 as
the work slot and 110 as the protection slot.
20 Jackout the work slot circuit pack (after making the traffic up) so that the traffic
should switch to protection slot circuit pack within 50 ms and there should not
be any switching in optical path.
21 Jack in the work slot circuit pack back and then check that the traffic revert to
this circuit pack (after reversion time). Now jackout the protection slot circuit
pack and check that there should not be any traffic hit.
22 Jack in the work slot circuit pack and there should not be any traffic hit. Now
jackout the protection slot circuit pack and check that the traffic should switch
to work slot circuit pack within 50 ms.
Note: The above procedure is applicable for both 2nd and 4th IO slots.

If the protection type is Then go to
revertive step 21
non-revertive step 22
