6 Event Indication
In this context, an alarm refers to the indication of an event. The indication of an
event is realized via hardware, i.e. via red or blinking LEDs and via the alarm
connector; and additionally via software, i.e. via Web Interface, via an SNMP trap,
or by polling the related SNMP object(s). The hardware event indication via device
panel is described in chapter 3.1.1. The indication via Web Interface is subject of
chapters 5.5.3 & 5.5.5; the indication via SNMP is explained in chapters 5.9.4.1 &
5.9.4.4. The functionality of the alarm connector and the software event indication
(i.e. the error codes) are described in the following.
6.1 Event Indication via Alarm Connector
The Sub-D 9 (m) alarm connector is located at the rear side of the chassis. The
alarm connector functionality can be obtained via potential free contacts; please
refer to chapter 7 for the pin assignment.
6.1.1 A/B Alarm
A/B-Alarm signalizes that one or all power supplies do not deliver secondary power.
B-Alarm signalizes that one power supply unit does not deliver secondary power,
and A-Alarm signalizes that no power supply delivers secondary power.

6.1.2 Summary Alarm
In addition to the event indication via device panel (please refer to chapter 3.1.1),
the alarm connector provides summary alarm contacts, which are activated (state
"Alarm") if there are pending and not acknowledged event(s).

The event acknowledgement (i.e. to stop the blinking of the LEDs at the device
panel and to return the summary alarm contacts to "Normal") is described in
chapters 3.1.1 & 5.5.5.
