3.6.8 Setting the Control Unit’s ID code
The Control Unit’s identification code is used when the ICOR protocol is installed on the
connection between the Control Unit and the host computer. The use of an identification
code lets the host computer transmit data to multiple Control Units in the same network.
With the basic version of the protocol, the Control Unit executes and acknowledges the
commands from the host computer only if the ID code in the message matches the Control
Unit’s own code. If the ID code does not match, it returns an error to the host computer. With
Extension A of the protocol, the Control Unit processes all commands even if the
identification code sent by the host computer does not match its own. If the ID code matches,
the Control Unit will send an acknowledge message to the host computer. If the ID code does
not match, the Control Unit will not send a response to the host computer. The ID code can
be set to any value between 0 and 255.)
To set the Control Unit’s ID code:
1. In the Control Unit IV setup screen menu, select the option Control Unit IV ID
(Headend code) by typing
7
and press <Enter>.
2. At the prompt, type the new ID code (between 0 and 255) and press <Enter>. The
Control Unit will display its system information, including the new ID code.
