4.9 Finding a subscriber’s tap number
The
locate
and
search
commands are used to find a subscriber’s tap number. These
commands are only available with an OBP system. You must know the subscriber’s group
number in order to use one of these commands.
The
locate
command is used to find a subscriber’s tap number when the initial status is
basic or off. The
locate
command cannot be used when the subscriber’s initial status is
“pay” since the tap status toggles between the initial status and the pay status during the
locate process.
The
locate
command will not interrupt service to the other subscribers in the group
(compare with
search
command in following paragraphs).
The
search
command is used to find a subscriber’s tap number no matter what the initial
status is. The
search
command does not involve any initial status restrictions since the tap
status toggles between pay and off during the search process.
The
search
command will temporarily interrupt service to other subscribers in the group.
Important:
If the tap number found is 1 and the initial status is pay, we recommend that you validate
the result by toggling the subscriber’s status between off and pay. If the subscriber status
stays the same, it means you entered the wrong group number for this tap.
