4.4 Setting the tier status of a group
To set the tier status of one group, a set of groups, or all groups:
1. Press <Enter> to display the CU4> prompt.
2. Type
sgrp
<status> <group[,number of groups]> and press <Enter>.
Possible statuses:
OBP off: no service
basic: basic service
pay: extended basic service
xxx: basic and pay, for an inclusive service only; otherwise this
status cannot be used
Multi-tier from a to h (inclusive services)
off
group: 1 to maximum number of groups
number of groups: groups + number of groups ^ maximum number of groups
The parameter for the number of groups is optional. If you do not enter the number of
groups, its default value will be 1. Hence, only one group will be affected by the command.
The
sgrp
command does not immediately transmit the status on the CATV network. The
status will be sent at the next scan. To force an immediate transmission for a group, use the
sendgrp command (see section 4.6).
Note that with the
sgrp
command, the time it takes for the subscriber’s tap status to be
refreshed depends on the Control Units capacity and the tiering system. The following table
shows the refresh (scan) times according to nominal capacity.
Table 4-1: Scan time as a function of nominal capacity
Nominal capacity Maximum number of groups Scan time
