Groove Synthesis
5. Pot Mode:
Jump, Passthru — The rotary controls on the 3rd Wave’s
front
panel are a mixture of “endless” rotary encoders and potentiom-
eters or “pots.” The pots are identiable by their lined knobs and limited
amount of travel. There are two Pot modes to determine how the synth
reacts when the programmable parameters are edited. (Master volume is
not programmable, so these modes don’t apply.)
jump mode uses an absolute value based upon the position of the pot
when edited: turn a pot and the value jumps immediately from the stored
value to the edited value.
In
passthru mode, turning the pot has no effect until after the edited
value equals the preset value (that is, until the edited value “passes
through” the stored value).
6. Screensaver Time: Off…5 minutes, 1 minutes, 30 seconds — Dims
the main display after the specied time. This can help prolong the life of
the display over time.
7. Screensaver Mode: Logo, Blank — When the display is dimmed this
selects what is shown on screen.
8. Calibrate Wheels — Calibrates the Pitch and Mod wheels. Execute
this command and follow the on-screen directions.
9. Calibrate Pedal — Calibrates an expression pedal connected to
the rear-panel
pedal/in 2 jack. Execute this command and follow the
on-screen directions.
10. Calibrate Volume Pedal — Calibrates a sustain pedal connected
to the rear-panel
volume jack. Execute this command and follow the
on-screen directions.
11. Pedal Polarity: Positive, Negative — There are two types of pedals,
normally open and normally closed. Either type can be used with the
Sustain switch input. This setting allows you to accommodate both
models in case yours behaves in a way that is the opposite of what you
expect due to its polarity. Connect your pedal to the rear-panel
pedal/in 2
jack and choose the appropriate setting based on its behavior.
