3rd Wave User Manual
Global Settings
12. Volume Pedal Polarity: Positive, Negative — There are two types of
pedals, normally open and normally closed. Either type can be used with
the Sustain switch input. This setting allows you to accommodate both
models in case yours behaves in a way that is the opposite of what you
expect due to its polarity. Connect your pedal the rear-panel
volume jack
and choose the appropriate setting based on its behavior.
13. Sustain Footswitch: Pressed Closed, Pressed Open — There are
two types of momentary footswitches, normally open and normally
closed. Either type can be used with the real-panel sustain pedal input.
This setting allows you to accommodate both models in case yours
behaves in a way that is the opposite of what you expect due to its polar-
ity. (Sustain is on until the footswitch is pressed and then it turns off,
which is the opposite of the expected behavior.) Connect your pedal and
choose the appropriate setting based on its behavior.
14. MIDI In Channel: All, 1…16 — Selects which MIDI channel receives
MIDI data, 1 to 16. Choosing
all receives on all 16 channels.
15. MIDI Out Channel: All, 1…16 — Selects which MIDI channel sends
MIDI data, 1 to 16. Choosing
all sends on all 16 channels.
16. MIDI Local Control: On, Off — When on (the default), the keyboard
and front panel controls directly affect the 3rd Wave. When off, the
controls are transmitted via MIDI but do not directly affect the “local”
synth (that is, the 3rd Wave). This is primarily useful for avoiding MIDI
data loops that can occur with some external Sequencers.
17. MIDI In Cable: usb+midi, usb, midi — Sets the port (MIDI or USB)
by which MIDI and MIDI clock are received.
18. MIDI Out Cable: usb+midi, usb, midi — Sets the port (MIDI or USB)
by which MIDI and MIDI clock are sent.
19. MIDI Send Arp Notes: off, on — When On, the Arpeggiator outputs
MIDI note numbers. You can use this feature to drive other MIDI-
equipped devices such as synthesizers and drum machines.
20. MIDI Send Program Change: off, on — When on, changing Banks
or Programs on the 3rd Wave will change Banks and Programs on a
MIDI instrument that supports MIDI Program Change messages and is
connected to the 3rd Wave.
