10. RAID1

RAID1 (Redundant Array of Independent Disks Level 1) is technology generally referred to as
disk mirroring. With RAID1, a system (array) that combines two drives and manages them as a
single unit is constructed. With RAID1, the same data is written on each of the two drives and the
data can be read from either of the drives. If one drive fails, data can be read from the other drive,
which is operating normally. Note that RAID1 uses two drives but the available capacity is equal
to the capacity of only one drive.
