Table 3: Components of the Lateral Arm

5 Scale On each side of the Lateral Arm. Yellow scale is for right lateral
needle approach. Blue scale is for left lateral needle approach. Use
the top scale to position the carriage. Use the bottom scale to position
the X-Stop.
6 Carriage Attaches to the Lateral Arm and holds the device mount to which the
biopsy needle is attached. Moves along the Lateral Arm during
biopsy procedures.
7 Carriage Position
Indicator
Shows the Carriage position on the upper scale on the Lateral Arm.
8 Carriage Lever Engage the lever to lock the Carriage into position on the Lateral
Arm rail. Locked = vertical down position. Unlocked = vertical up
position. Set the lever to the full unlocked position for smooth
movement along the Lateral Arm.
9 Device Mount Lever Locking lever that locks and unlocks the device mount onto the
carriage.
10 Device Mount Knob Rotate the knob to attach and detach the biopsy device adapter.
11 Device Mount Holds the biopsy device adapter to which the biopsy needle is
attached. The needle guide holder attaches to the end of the needle
guide rods on the device mount.
12 Needle Guide
Holder
Holds the disposable needle guide through which the biopsy needle
is inserted.
