14. After the first five exposures, remove and remount the Lateral Arm Module on the
opposite side of the Biopsy Guidance Module as indicated by the Acquisition
Workstation.
15. Select the next stereo pair and repeat steps 8 through 12 for the next five locations in
the Lateral Arm Calibration Target List.
Note
If the points used during the STX calibration cannot be reached, perform Biopsy
Guidance Hardware from CalTool. If the points still cannot be reached, refer to
Hardware Range Calibration on page 73 to perform the hardware calibration.
16. Press End QC to end calibration.
4.6 Biopsy Calibration Interaction
The action between the calibrations related to Guidance and Geometry is presented in the
following table. Note that the only interdependency is that of the STX Calibration on the
Guidance Hardware Calibration.

The Geometry Calibration can be done more often without changing the STX Calibration.
An STX Calibration is necessary if a Guidance Hardware Calibration is performed, or if
the QAS Test fails. The Geometry Cal is the only Biopsy subsystem calibration the end
user is expected to perform.
4.7 The QAS Test
Perform the Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) Test procedure to make sure of accurate
alignment and performance of the needle guidance system when you use the Affirm
biopsy system with the Selenia Dimensions or 3Dimensions mammography system. Log
into the system as a Service User.
Note
You can use Auto C-Arm Stereo Mode or Manual C-Arm Stereo Mode for the QAS Test.
