Procedure
1. Inspect the calibration phantom for damage.
2. Select Admin > Quality Control > Technologist tab > Geometry Calibration
procedure on the Acquisition Workstation.
3. Select Start.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen and take the predefined exposure. Do not
change the preselected techniques.
5. Accept the image. When you see the message that the geometry calibration was
completed successfully, click OK.
6. Select End Calibration.
4.5 STX Calibration
This procedure maps the needle coordinates to the detector space for either the standard
approach or lateral arm approach of a biopsy device. A calibration must be performed for
each Biopsy Guidance Module/Gantry/Detector combination, and requires the Biopsy
Guidance Module to move the QAS needle to pre-defined coordinates.
4.5.1 STX Calibration for Standard Approach
Required Tools/Equipment
• QAS Needle Assembly (ASY-03949)
• 5 x 5 cm Standard Biopsy Paddle (ASY-03667)
• Geometry Phantom (ASY-02042)
• Acquisition Workstation (AWS) Application
Procedure
1. Install the Biopsy Guidance Module with the QAS needle on the Gantry and lock in
place. Powering down the Gantry is not required when connecting the Biopsy Guidance
Module.
2. From the AWS, press the Admin button, then the STX Calibration button. The first
target is automatically sent to the Biopsy Control Module.
3. Move to the first target by holding the motor enable buttons on the front and rear of
the Biopsy Control Module.
4. Manually dial in the Z-axis on the Biopsy Guidance Module until you reach the
target.
5. Confirm that the exposure technique has been set to kVp=25, mAs=50, Filter=Rh and
take a Stereo Target image pair.
