Procedure
1. Attach the biopsy device (with holder) to the removable mount oriented for left-side
installation on the Lateral Arm. That is, make sure that the device needle is near the
blue needle guide mount rail cap.
2. Install the plastic needle guide on the left (blue) needle guide mount.
3. Loosen but do not remove the two cap screws on the needle guide mount that secure
the guide holder to the mount.
4. Install the needle guide holder on the removable mount rail, ensuring that the biopsy
device needle passes through the plastic guide.
Warning:
The biopsy device trochar tip is very sharp!
5. Slide the removable mount rail until the needle guide is close to the biopsy device
body. Check that the guide is not binding on the needle shaft.
6. Tighten the two cap screws that secure the guide holder. Take care not to apply
pressure against the needle shaft.
7. Slowly slide the removable mount rail along the needle shaft towards the tip. Check
for binding between the guide and the needle shaft. The needle tip should not deflect
as the guide is slid along the tip.
8. Repeat the procedure with the biopsy device installed on the removable mount
oriented toward the right (gold) rail cap, using the right (gold) needle guide mount.
4.3 Biopsy Guidance Hardware
This procedure establishes the Biopsy Guidance Hardware zero reference points.
Refer to the CalTool to perform the Biopsy Guidance Hardware calibration procedure.
Note
Perform this procedure on new or serviced hardware.
4.4 Geometry Calibration
Geometry calibration is required semiannually. Perform this calibration using the
Geometry phantom supplied with the system.
