AEC
Automatic Exposure Control
Annotations
Markings on an image to indicate an area of
interest.
Anterior
In front of, at or near the front of the body.
Caudal (Inferior)
Toward the back or tail
CT

Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine
Hounsfield Units
A quantitative scale for describing radiosensitivity
relative to water, defined as 0, and air, defined as
-1000.
Inferior (Caudal)
Below, under, away from the head/upper part of a
structure.
Lateral (Latero)
Toward the side, away from the midline, farther
from midline.
Medial (Medio)
Toward the midline, away from the side, nearer to
midline.
PACS
Picture Archiving and Communications System. A
computer and network system that transmits and
archives digital medical images.
Posterior
After, behind, at or near the back of the body.
