Removing and replacing a fan
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays are
populated.
Procedure
1.
Extend the server from the rack.
2. Remove the access panel.
3. Remove the fan and disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Removing and replacing a drive blank
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays are
populated.
Procedure
1. To remove a drive blank in outer drive cage,
remove the bezel if installed.
2. To remove a drive blank from an inner drive cage, do the following:
NOTE: If the HPE designated cable management arm is not installed on the rack, ensure that the cables at the rear of
the server are not damaged while extending the server.
a. Extend the server from the rack.
b. To open the inner drive cage, press the cage latches.
The drive cage pops out of the chassis in the slanting position.
