4. Slide the enclosure out of the rack and set it on a secure surface.
5. Label all the disk drives with the slot number before removing them to ensure they are reinstalled in
the proper enclosure bays.
6. Remove all the disk drives. See Removing a disk drive on page 87.
7. Remove the power supplies. See Removing a power supply on page 96.
8. Perform one of the following depending on which type of enclosure is involved.
a. If you are replacing the backplane in a drive enclosure, remove the I/O modules. See
Removing an I/O module on page 94.
b. If you are replacing the backplane in a array enclosure, remove the controller modules. See
Removing a controller module on page 92.
9. Remove the fan modules. See Removing a fan module on page 98.
10. Pull the hood latch up and back (1 and 2), and lift the enclosure cover up and remove it (3).
