9. When both ends of a SAS cable are correctly connected, the green link-LED next to the connected SAS
ports are lit.
For example, Figure 57 on page 57 shows the LEDs of expansion canister 1 on a 2077-92F, 2077-
A9F expansion enclosure. The SAS cable is successfully inserted in to port 1 (input); port 2 (output)
does not contain a SAS cable.

Connecting optional SAS expansion enclosures: 2078-92F, 2078-A9F
After you install 5U expansion enclosures into the rack, you must connect them to each system that will
use them. The system requires software version 7.8.0 or later. Do not connect the expansion enclosure if
software version 7.8.0 is not installed on the system.
About this task
This task applies if you are installing a 2078-92F, 2078-A9F expansion enclosure.
Note: When you insert SAS cables, ensure that the connector is oriented correctly to the control
enclosure and expansion enclosure.
• For systems, IBM Storwize V5100 control enclosures, and 2077-24F 2U expansion enclosures, the blue
pull tab must be below the cable ( 1 in Figure 58 on page 57).
