2. Continuing to support the library from the front, remove the sling and
continue pushing the library into the rack until it is flush with the flange on
the rear of each Rack Mount Kit rail.
3. Install and tighten rear thumb screws located on the flange on the rear of
each Rack Mount Kit rail.
Installing the Rack Ears
Rack ears in installed on the front of each module of a library for weight
distribution.
1. Install the right rack ear (

in Figure 3-10).
a. At the bottom right of the I/O station position on each library module,
there is a slot (

in Figure 3-10). Insert the right rack ear into the slot.
b. Position the right rack ear flush with the rack rail. The slots in the rack ear
should be positioned as follows:
v In a 5U library, over the holes in the rack rails that align with the holes in
the rack kit rails
v In a 14U library, over the holes in the rack rails that clip/cage nuts were
installed

Place the screws (

in Figure 3-3 on page 3-5) in the slots on the right rack
ear (

in Figure 3-3 on page 3-5) and tighten.
2.
Install the left rack ear (

in Figure 3-10).
a. Open the left door of the library module slightly.
b. Grasp the hinged side of the door and, while pulling on the door, push to
the right to expose the slot for the left rack ear (

in Figure 3-10).
c. Insert the left rack ear into the slot.
d. Position the right rack ear flush with the rack rail. The slots in the rack ear
should be positioned as follows:
v In a 5U library, over the holes in the rack rails that align with the holes in
the rack kit rails
