3. Uroflow Investigation
3.1 Introduction
This chapter describes two procedures for performing uroflow investigations
with the Flowmaster. Determine the best uroflow procedure for your situation.
1 Uroflow without database program
This procedure allows you to perform the uroflow investigation without
using the database program. Recording starts automatically the moment
that the patients starts voiding. After the uroflow you will enter patient
information and print the uroflow report. All the information will be saved in
the database program without opening the program. For more detailed
instructions, see § 3.3.
2 Uroflow via database program
It is always possible to start the uroflow investigation via the database
program. First, you must enter patient information and give the patient a
miction command. After the uroflow you will print the report; patient and
uroflow information are saved in the database program.
The procedure is described in § 3.4.
Before undertaking any urodynamic study, you must be
knowledgeable of and apply proper aseptic clinical
techniques. Always wear exam gloves while performing
a study.
Standard the flowmeter and the flow program are on when the computer is
running. When starting the computer, be sure there is a Bluetooth connection
(check the green √-sign on the monitor and the flashing green flowsensor
LED).
Artefact detection
The flowmeter can detect artefacts, like kicking against the urine container. An
artefact is marked by a red rectangle during online view, and a horizontal line
above the curves in the uroflow report. The data of the artefact will be
corrected and not used for the results calculation.
