Siroky et al, demonstrated that the diagnostic accuracy using urinary flow can
be significantly increased if the flow rate is statistically related to the bladder
volume. The nomograms are used as a graphical aid to show what the
nomogram value is for this patient. The nomogram value is
expressed as the deviation from the mean flow rate in standard deviation units
for this urine flow. A score below -2 standard deviations indicates an
obstructed urethra.
The method was applied on standing, male patients. The bladder volume is
determined by adding the residual urine volume to the micturated volume.

4.4 Liverpool Nomogram
The Liverpool flow rate nomogram shows an x-y plot of the flow rate related to
the voided volume. It can be used as an aid to diagnose normal or obstructed
urinary flow.
