4.5.5 Maintaining Accelerators

Accelerators (A) are mounted on each outboard disc and are
designed to quickly move cut material off the disc and into the
conditioner. R216 headers have two pairs of accelerators at
each end of the header.
Periodically inspect accelerators for damage and loose or
missing fasteners, and replace as necessary.
IMPORTANT:
Always replace accelerators in pairs to ensure proper disc
balance.
Inspecting Accelerators
CAUTION
Discblades have two sharp cutting edges that can cause serious injury. Exercise caution and wear gloves when working
with blades.
WARNING
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of machine, always stop engine and remove key from ignition
before leaving operators seat for any reason.
1. Raise the header fully.
2. Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
3. Engage the windrower lift cylinder safety props. Refer to 3.3.1 Engaging and Disengaging Header Safety Props
