3. Connect the other end of the sampling line to the patient.
 For intubated patients requiring an airway adapter, install the airway adapter
between the patient circuit and the ventilator Y-piece.
 For non-intubated patients, place the nasal cannula onto the patient.
4. Connect the gas outlet to the scavenging system using an exhaust tube.
After the CO
2
module is connected to the SMR, it enters measure mode by default and the
monitor displays CO2 Starting. CO
2
can be measured after the start-up is complete.
